Swimmer!

Today (well, technically yesterday) we went to Dolphin's Cove...it's kind of a water park light...Kevin and I have been going every Friday with Camp and Teri and Alex went this week and two weeks ago.
Two weeks ago, we found that Alex loved the water slide and it was something he was excited to do again this time. Today, on our second time down, we landed in the catch pool and Alex when flying out of the raft. It freaked me out a bit so I dumped the raft to get out faster so I could grab him and the lifeguard already had him.
I thought he would be freaked out, but he actually enjoyed it. He kept saying, "I flipped out."
No matter what was asked...are you okay, did you like that...just "I flipped out" (although now he's saying "I flipped out into the water")
He went down the slid with Teri and then me again, then we went into the swimming part of the pool. After a few jumps into the water and some playing around, we had him paddleing back and forth to each of us. He was wearing a life vest which helped him to float, but he was doing all the swimming himself - and he was so proud!
He dove in a few times without the vest, and right before we left, he dove in with the vest (and not being caught) and came up swiming.

Another tale of food

Last week Teri made Swedish Meatballs for dinner.
She ate some, Kevin had some, I had some, Alex had 8. Wow....

The next day, he wanted leftovers for lunch "balls" as he calls them and scarfed down the remaining 7 along with a little mac and cheese.

Curious, I asked Teri how many she made. Counting what we thought we each ate and came to the estimate of 30 meatballs for the pound of beef. That means in 2 somewhat equal servings Alex ate a half pound of ground beef in 24 hours....heaven help us when these kids reach their teenage years.

Donations will be accepted -smile-.

Mini Cabbages?

Alex enjoys most green things, but seems particularly enamored with brussel sprouts. For dinner this evening he ate 7.
Not sure where he puts all that food.

Walking DoDo

Crawling has officially gone the way of the DoDo. Last Thursday Alex decided that walking was better than crawling and that's been pretty much the only mode of locomotion since.
He is now, officially, a toddler.

Finding a Balance

Alex took his first steps today. A few days ago he started using one of his push toys to walk with and find a center of balance. It won't be long before he's toddling all over the place.

Steady as He Goes

Over the last few days Alex has been standing for brief periods of times. Sometimes he'll realize he's standing and will fall, other times he just falls.

Upwardly Mobile

Alex has started pulling up on things. He's been attempting for a while, but started in earnest on Thursday and has basically perfected the move. He'll be walking soon.

A quick update

As I sit here, I can see Alex crawling across the floor. Not the pull/push type of crawling that he has been doing, but the regular hands and knees crawling.

Teri said that he was also able to put himself into the sitting position today...and he started pulling up on things as well.

Pretty good day for him considering that he has an ear infection at the moment.

Crawl

We have achieved crawl...sort of.

It's not a full crawl, but Alex is pushing with one leg and able to travel straight rather than roll to where he wants to go.

It's about time

"It's about time," is probably what Alex was thinking yesterday when we gave him his first taste of solid food. Well, first taste is probably an exaggeration since I doubt that single grain oatmeal has much of a taste.

He's been grabbing at everyone's food for several weeks now and has been very interested. We were waiting until six months and while he's a few days shy it seemed like a good time to start.

He enjoyed it quite a bit, though he, of course, made a huge mess. He's still got the flicking his tongue when he eats so it seems as much (or more) comes out then goes in.

Pictures will follow.
