The Force and Tarzan

Ove the past week or so, we've watched 2 movies. Actually, I watched one and was in the room during the other one.

The first was Star Wars: Episode III. Wow, George Lucas has really jumped the shark. While I had heard that this is the best of the new ones, and it is, it wasn't until I watched it that I realized that wasn't very much of a complement....it's like saying "The most recent movie of the year!"

The story itself was certainly the best of the recent three and possibly among the best of all of them, but the actual movie was a sad rendition of the story being told. The characters were not believable, the script was forced and the pace of the movie was choppy. There were a few scenes that were well done (with Palpentine sans Anakin), but certainly not enough to save the film.

On the other hand, Tarzan was a decent cartoon rendition of the the character. I've seen many different versions of Tarzan and I am pretty sure that I have seen this one before. This was Kevin's first viewing and after watching the opening violence of the movie, Teri and I both wondered about continuing. We figured that letting him see that everything turns out alright would be better than having his imagination complete the movie for him.

When the movie ended, he hopped up to eject the movie and said, "That was a good one. That was a good movie."

Star Wars III: 1.5 stars out of 5
Tarzan: 3.5 out of 5 stars
