Pearly Whites
Kevin had his first trip to the dentist yesterday and we remembered to take the camera. He did very well, no tears, and only one time where he seemed uncomfortable.
He received a goodie bag to take home and 2 toys from the toy chest. As soon as we got home, he wanted to use his new toothbrush - but we had him wait until after lunch. His bag also contained a timer for brushing that seems really long, but is only 2-3 minutes. I tend to brush that long, but never realized that I was only brushing his teeth for only about 1 minutes. Granted, he as fewer teeth and more space and les paste is used, but that 1 minute seems way longer than it really is...so the timer will be helpful.
We also flossed last night for the first time. Can't really get anything caught between the teeth, but it is good for gum care.
I'm pretty adamant about dental care so I'm glad he enjoyed the dentist and enjoys brushing time.

The Streak Has Ended
We managed to go 26 months without an ear infection, but the streak has ended. We took Kevin to the doctor's to get his cough checked out and it turns out he's pretty sick. A little bronchitis, possible strep and an infection in his left ear and the beginnings of infection in his right.
He hasn't pulled at his ears or otherwise shown that he's in pain. That's not surprising, when he had reflux he never complained of the pain - which is why it took so long to find out. I'm glad we took him to the doctor's, we may never have known about the infection otherwise.

Icky Sicky
Kevin was in a bad mood when he woke up and just wanted to continue sleeping. It was already 8:30 and that can mean only one thing - he's not feeling well. He woke up a bit more around 9 and was somewhat interested in breakfast. Unfortunately, about 30 minutes after breakfast our suspicions were confirmed when he threw up.
He doesn't seem too under the weather, a little quieter than usual, but not too much.
On the upside, the carpets upstairs have been cleaned.

Sunday Night Fever
Yesterday, Kevin work up from his nap with a fever. He and Teri stayed home and they relaxed on the couch. By the time I got home he was feeling better and was moving around alot more. Unfortunatly, he slowed down as the evening drew to a close and was feverish when he went to bed.
This morning, Teri had a doctor's apointment and Kevin and I have been hanging out. He's been pretty clingy and has had a touch of a fever. Aroound 10 he got up from the couch and played a little, but wore out quickly. We had lunch, but he didn't eat, then he went down for a nap around 12:30. I just checked on him and he had wrapped himself up in the banket and was all sweaty.
On the upside he doesn't tug at his ears or show any signs of ear infection so I hope it's just a fever virus.

Under the weather
Kevin was very cuddly today when I came home. On Wednesdays when we are not going to eat at church, I try to come home early enough to see him for a while since the evening will be taken with youth activities and when we come home it will be bath and bed for him.
Tonight, I laid with him on the couch and he fell asleep on my stomach while I took a small nap myself. Usually he's 100 miles an hour so we knew that he's not feeling well. His temperature was hovering around 101, but when I got home this evening Teri said it had gone down.
Hope you feel better kid.

Kevin's Stats
Kevin had a doctor's appointment last Tuesday. I posted his stats on my blog, but I thought I should put them here too.
Weight: 19lbs, 12 oz. (3rd percentile)
Height: 30 inches (75th percentile)
Head circumference: I think it was 18 1/2 inches, but I'm sure whatever it was, it was the 50th percentile.
The doctor said that he was developing normally, even ahead of schedule a bit. That was good to hear, since he was behind for a while.
He's getting so big - I can't believe how fast he's growing up. I remember when he was a tiny, helpless baby.

The follow up
Kevin had a followup at the hospital today and they said that everything was looking good. The pathology report came back and it was just a cyst. The swelling is still there, but that's normal. It should go down in a few months.
We'll be back there in 6 weeks for the next followup.

Under the Knife
It'll be a big day for Kevin, one that he will not remember, but we will for a long time. He's having a cyst removed from right above his left brow.
We have to get to the hospital by 8:45 and the surgery is at 10:45. It's fairly simple, should only take about 45 minutes, and he'll come home tomorrow night, but we're still a little nervous about it.
He can't have anything tomorrow morning, and only clear liquid after midnight so Teri's going to wake him up in a few minutes and give him a bottle. Then before 6, he'll have a bottle of apple juice and then hopefully he'll sleep unitl it's time to go to the hosiptal.
