Teri's Gift List
I know, it seems kind of shallow to have a gift list on the internet. When Christmas and my birthday roll around, people ask me what I want, and I never have a ready answer. This way, I can find stuff I like, then I can put it here, and just point folks to this page. I'm happy, they're happy, everyone's happy. What's not to like?
For reference, I stole this idea from my husband, who stole it from Mark Anbinder, who stole it from his brother, who stole it from Chris Manly. (I don't know who Chris Manly is, but he seems pretty cool.) My brother-in-law has a gift page too. The idea is catching on!
Onto what you're here for:
First of all, I like to shop. To me, getting stuff is not all about the having, it's also about the getting. So, having said that, a gift card to any of the following stores would be very much welcomed.
Sears
Wal-Mart
Target
Barnes & Noble/Borders
Michaels/AC Moore
Best Buy
IKEA
If you're the kind of person who doesn't like to give gift cards and like to give stuff, here are some ideas:
A magnifying mirror (small is best)
Down throw, or if you're into spending bigger bucks, a down comforter
Diamonds are a girl's best friend. (I don't wear earrings, so stick with necklaces, rings, and bracelets.)
Movies & TV (DVD, please)
The Bill & Ted Movies (Excellent Adventure, Bogus Journey)
Any of The Simpsons seasons
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation Season 2
Books
I like cookbooks, mainly ones that make my life easier in the kitchen. The bigger bookstores such as Barnes & Noble and Borders usually have some good ones on the "bargain books" shelf. If in doubt about what book to get me, go to the register and say, "I would like to purchase a gift card, please."
Uncle John's Bathroom Readers: Unstoppable Bathroom Reader, The Book of Dumb, Plunges into History, Plunges into Great Lives, etc. (I do have a few of the recently published, but not the ones listed above.)
The Book of Totally Useless Information by Don Voorhees
Mental Floss Presents Condensed Knowledge (Available April 2004)
Magazines: The gift that keeps giving all year long. A subscription to any of the following magazines would be welcome.
Mental Floss (Available on the magazine rack at Barnes & Noble)
Woman's World (I like the crossword puzzle)
TV Guide Crosswords
People
Entertainment Weekly
Things to keep me comfy
Slippers/slipper socks (my shoe size is 7 1/2-8, depending on the shoe)
Sweatshirts (size XL)
Down throw (Target or Sears)
Spring jacket (Size XL, but get a gift receipt just in case)
For reference, my birthday is January 23rd.
